7 reasons to write a business blog

This post originally began with the title: Why blog? However, let’s be more specific. We’re talking business blogging here, and why it’s just so effective and necessary for every business today.business blog

Yes – that’s EVERY business – no matter what industry you’re in.

Why blog for your business..?

1. It will attract more people to your website: We all want more visitors to our websites, right? Well, writing a quality and informative blog post and optimising this with keywords and long-tail (related) words and phrases is perfect. Share it on social media, mention it in your email newsletter. Bring people to your website…

2. Blogging defines you as an expert in your field: If you write regularly about your industry on your blog and help to educate your readers, then you’re sharing your expert industry knowledge and letting people see that you really do know what you’re talking about. Think about when you buy from someone and what influences that choice. We all like to buy from a business we trust. Blogs help to build that trust and establish a relationship between you and your audience.

3. Sharing blog posts gives you something else to push out on social media: If you’ve ever been at a loss as to what to post on social media platforms, then blogging is great for this. Share your blog on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Post a link on Instagram and make the most of all the avenues readily available for boosting your profile. The more you share, the more opportunity there is for people to see your post, read it, share it and most importantly, visit your site. Plus, you won’t be stumped for that social media update.

4. It converts traffic into leads: When people visit your website to read a blog post, make sure you have a CTA (call to action) at the bottom of it. This could involve a download link to a free offer. You acquire their contact details and they get the free offer. Or, have a link to your contact page where they can get in touch with you, or provide a prompt where they can sign up for your email newsletter.

5. Blogging improves your ranking on Google and other search engines: Every blog post you write is a new page on your website. This is brilliant for increasing your visibility on Google, which, as we all know, prioritises those sites with fresh and informative content. Most businesses don’t update their websites very often, but blogging can do this for you every week or however often you post.

6. Boost your SEO and long-tail visibility: Writing a business blog also helps with SEO – if you choose a particular topic, optimise the content around key words and phrases and this will help make you more visible when people search for those terms online.

7. Show your customers and leads that you care about them: Customers and potential customers really do appreciate it when a business shows they’ve made an effort to engage with their audience. In today’s digital world, if you don’t, then there’s really no excuse and well, plenty of others will, so people have lots of opportunities to go elsewhere. A business blog also gives the personal touch – it humanises your business if you will – which is what today’s online audience loves and quite frankly, expects.
